Even though it’s the foundation of democracy, you can only vote once, every couple of years. But there are other things you CAN do – as many times as you like.
For example, you can also:
- Decide to not use Amazon and vote with your wallet to fight oligarchs. You can find many other boycott targets here
- Create an Affinity Group with others you know who share your values. Here’s a great resource for doing this.
- Flood the DEI ‘snitch line’ as reported here. There are many other examples of this kind of “interference” that can be run against targeted organizations
- File a complaint to the Treasury about DOGE’s theft of information
- Send or deliver cookies, flowers, etc to any federal organization with a note telling workers how much we appreciate their holding the line and doing the work of the government.
- Complain to Google and Apple about renaming the “Gulf of Mexico”
- Show Up at a demonstration or crowd event this weekend, if there’s one happening (you can also organize one yourself – these folks can show you how to do it.)
- Call your elected officials with 5Calls – it’s really easy. 5Calls lists the issues that are currently in front of your legislators and shows their contact info.
- Put up signs in your yard or neighborhood – here’s one place to order them
- Volunteer at organizations that help support the folks who will be devastated by the Big Ugly Bill
These political actions really are like voting, but you can do them as many times as you want to. Just think, every time you hear Cheeto-face say something stupid (like, every time he opens his mouth?! ) or hurtful or scary, you can go to the list above and “cast another vote”. If you did this twice a week, that’s 100 votes every year. Now we’re talking about having an impact!
